Dr. Rabindra Kumar Jena
Secretary
Greetings!
As Secretary of the Odisha Hematology, it is my privilege to welcome you to our official website. Our organisation is the only professional body for hematologists in Odisha sta... o the advancement of hematology and betterment of healthcare in our state. Each member is also a benefited life member of Indian Society of Haematology & Blood Transfusion (ISHBT). It’s a great pride for all of us for the fact that Odisha Hematology is the largest and most vibrant state chapter having maximum number of life members of ISHBT.
The prime objective of Odisha Hematology is to promote continuous medical education (CME) in the field of hematology as well as generate awareness on various blood diseases in the society at large. We are deeply involved in patient outreach programmes aimed at improving the lives of people affected by blood diseases and also addressing social issues arising out of them.
Odisha Hematology plays a key role in advising the Government of Odisha on matters relating to blood diseases. We take great pride in having successfully organised major events such as the 53rd Haematocon (2012) in Puri, the 3rd Global Sickle Cell Disease Congress (2017) in Bhubaneswar, and the 64th Haematocon (2023) in Bhubaneswar. These conferences have served as platforms for sharing knowledge, enhancing education and fostering collaborations across the hematological community and also medical profession.
We organize regular Master Classes and Quiz Programs for undergraduate and postgraduate medical students to inspire and cultivate a deep interest in hematology. Additionally, our health camps bring essential services to communities in need, and we maintain an active schedule of Blood Club Meetings every 2-3 months to facilitate discussion on management of blood diseases with experts from leading and reputed institutions.
We also encourage inter-departmental collaboration with professionals in fields such as pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, and pathology. This multi-disciplinary approach aims at ensuring comprehensive care for patients with blood disorders.
We are proud of the strides we have made, but our work is far from over. Together, we will continue to raise awareness, improve care, and create a network of professionals dedicated to transforming the hematology landscape in Odisha.
Thank you all for your continued support.
Long Live Odisha Hematology
